The Fayetteville Roots Festival is committed to sustainability and demonstrating that a festival can be a dynamic event without leaving a negative environmental footprint.
We are proud to have included sustainability initiatives from day one (2010). We have made strides to maker our urban festival sustainable on multiple fronts. Each year we seek to elevate our conservation & sustainability initiatives. This year we have more community and planet-friendly surprises in store.

ENERGY OFFSET
Richter Solar offset all audio and lighting power usage at Mainstage, returning 316 kWh to the grid
PAPER & PLASTIC COMPOSTING
All paper plates and utensils composted at a local farm and turned into usable soil compost
FOOD WASTE COMPOSTING
All food waste distributed to local farmers
RECYCLING
All non-compostable Plastic wares recycled via TerraCycle & City of Fayetteville (996 lbs of recyclables diverted from landfills)
LOW WASTE INITIATIVE
3.2 ounces of trash waste per person across the 4 day festival
STAINLESS PINTS
Eliminated over 9000 plastic cups via festival stainless pint program
SUSTAINABILITY CREW
Staffed trash and recycling sorting stations
LOCAL FOOD SOURCING
Over 75% of festival food sourced locally

All excess food donated to local hunger relief organizations
